Week 21

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Fetal Development:
The rapid growth phase begins to slow down this week. The heart grows stronger this week, and the legs are reaching their relative proportions.

Maternal Changes:
Over halfway there, and you're probably showing now. Your uterus is about 1/2 inch above your belly button. The average weight gain is between 10 and 15 pounds at this point. If you're eating a healthy diet, don't count pounds and calories too strictly. Emotionally, you're probably feeling more stable and comfortable.

Your ankles and feet may be swelling, particularly at the end of the day. Drink lots of water and rest with your feet elevated.

I'm a girl

After all the failed attempts to see that important spot between my thighs, they finally caught a glimpse of something.

I think that's how I'll look?? I will have long hair; wear a dress; with a tint of pink lipstick; have some nail colour on my nails.

Oohh.......

Mom's weight : 60.2 kg (lost 0.3kg)
My weight : approx 500g

Week 20

Fetal Development:
We're halfway through the pregnancy, and the baby has as much sleep and awake time as a newborn. The scalp hair begins to grow. If your baby is a girl, her uterus is starting to develop.

Maternal Changes:
Your uterus is at your navel now. You may experience some tenderness as your belly button becomes an "outtie" from the uterus pressing on it. The line between your navel (linea nigra) and pubic hair has darkened; it will fade after delivery.
Five Months
You're probably feeling the baby frequently now as the movements become stronger. If you're having an ultrasound to verify fetal age, it will probably be scheduled around this time. It's a good time to look into childbirth classes.

Hey! You're halfway there already!

My che-che read me a story

It was so nice of che-che to read me a story. She read me "The 3 Little pigs" and another book on "Stars". Then when she came to a page on a magic-wand, she said "zippidy zippidy I want di-di to be a horse". Mummy mimicked a horse neigh.
Just then che-che noticed mummy's navel is popping out and asked mummy.
Mummy told her a story about her also popping mummy's out last time. The story went like this " Last time when you were in mummy's tummy. You told mummy :mummy mummy I want to be number 1 (put up one finger) and poke my navel. Now di-di says he wants to be number 1, but I told him :no che-che is number 1 so you must be number 2 (puts up two fingers)."
My che-che found the story funny and was laughing.
Stupid story I say making me the scapegoat...... When I'm older I'll tell mummy I never poke her navel.

Week 19

Fetal Development:
Along with the lanugo, vernix caseosa forms on your baby's skin. Vernix is a white cheesy substance that protects your baby's skin from its aquatic environment ~ imagine how your skin would look if you sat in water for nine months! The placenta continues to grow and nourish the baby.

Maternal Changes:
You may be noticing several skin changes. These are hormone-related and will disappear after delivery. You may have the "mask of pregnancy" - blotchy patches on your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Itchy skin is also very common. Your skin may be dry and flaky in certain areas and many pregnant women develop rashes, particularly on the stretched skin. You can't prevent stretch marks but lotions or oil can ease the dryness and itching. Drinking lots of water and eating a healthy diet will go a long way in reducing dryness.

I hate the ultrasound waves

Today I felt the waves hitting me again- and I hate it.

I dunno what the adults are up to, but I think they want to see whether I am going to be a boy or girl. I was irritated with the waves and no matter how long the aunty tried, I turned away.
At some time, the waves was too loud I was using my hands to cover my head, ears and face. Or maybe I was playing peek-a-boo. I thought I heard some laughter.

I weight 247.2g, can't measure me but Aunty said I am growing very well.

Before mummy left, she took her weight.(gained 1.6kg) And being a vainpot mummy, she is trying not to exceed her last final weight with my che-che. She put on 12kg - the healthy range and she hopes to go lesser with me (coz' she complaint that all the weight went to her instead of che-che). Oh no!! Does it mean I don't get to eat all the goody sweet food??

.........................................................................................................................
Before I could rest, mummy had to bring me to somewhere so noisy while she was exercising.

Chicken Little shoes

I thought I heard last evening (as mummy and che-che were walking from the carpark to our flat), che-che was showing off her Chicken Little shoes to mummy. And then she said "mummy tomorrow you buy one small small Chicken Little shoes for di-di".

Mummy asked "where's di-di"?

My che-che answered "neh..."and pointed to me. I felt her touching me.

Week 18

Fetal Development:
Our little one is nearly half a pound now and very human looking. Pads are forming on the fingertips and toes, and the eyes are looking forward rather than out the sides of the head. Meconium, the baby's first bowel movement, is accumulating within the bowel. If your baby is a boy, his prostate gland is beginning to develop.

If you notice your belly making jerky movements in sync, don't panic; your baby may have the hiccups!

Maternal Changes:
Feeling dizzy, lightheaded or faint are normal during pregnancy. These symptoms aren't harmful unless they occur frequently or severely. "Postural hypotension" is low blood pressure due to a change in position and happens frequently in pregnancy because your cardiovascular system doesn't react as fast.

Your uterus is just below your belly button now.

If you're having an ultrasound to verify fetal age or for other reasons, your careprovider will probably schedule it between now and 20 weeks. It's often possible to determine your baby's sex at this stage, and you'll be able to tell arms from legs and all sorts of delightful details!
